The Flagstaff Snow Sharks Swim
Team is a non-profit 501(C(3)) organization run by an elected
parent-run Board of Directors.
Team
Structure:
The team is divided into two
main workout groups and one lesson group. Each of these main groups
is divided into three groups. This gives your swimmer(s) the
optimum for both stroke technique and endurance work.
| The Senior group is for those swimmers in
seventh grade through high school.
|
| The Intermediate group is a workout group
for those nine to twelve years old.
|
| The Minnow group is a lesson-oriented
group for those four to eleven years old.
Proper stroke technique is stressed, in coordination with
endurance and strength work in all of these groups.
|
Younger swimmers will focus on
correct stroke technique, and with age it will remain an emphasis
in their training. Practicing a skill incorrectly does not lead to
fast swimming and can cause injury. Therefore, we do not move
swimmers through the program until the coaches agree on the
transition. The coaching staff makes sure your swimmer(s) is ready
technically, physically and mentally before moving him/her up to
the next level. We do use skill sheets for the Minnows and
Intermediate levels and try to test about every six weeks.
