PIKE

  • Explain and perform 2 front and 2 back sculling drills
  • put away own equipment
  • swim practice with goggles
  • read a clock for simple sets
  • explain the importance of drinking water for all and especially athletes
  • explain how food is our energy and can give examples of a balanced lunch
    Free/Back intro to proper race skills
  • flip turns
  • back turns
  • free with no breath from walls to flag after a turn
  • starts from the block
    Can Perform in one practice
  • 3 x 50 fly, back, brst, and free on a time and can start w/o coach help
  • 4 x 50 free on an interval
  • 3 x 100 im on an interval

PIRANHA

  • Get and put away own equipment
  • Know all the events available in their age group
  • Tried all the events in their age group (at the least in practice and timed)
  • Set meet and season goals
  • Use the clock for all sets and can know their time from the clock
  • T-15 swim and number of lengths swum
  • One sprint/high speed work out / week.
  • Attends 3 workouts/week (min.) for a season
  • Give examples of 3 balanced meals - b’fast,lunch, dinner and can provide 3 warning signs of dehydration
  • Perform three different drills for Butterfly, Backstroke, Breastroke and Freestyle

BARRACUDA

  • T-30 min. swim and knows distance swum
  • Consistently counts in training during sets: i.e. the number of repeats and the number of lengths of longer sets
  • Can demonstrate 5 different drills of their own choice for FR, BA, BR, and FL
  • Attends 4 workouts/week (min.) for a season
  • Raced in at least 2 meets (over a one year period)
  • Keeps a best times sheet
  • Nutrition:  Can explain the function of fats/carboy. and protiens in our diet
  • Sets meet and season goals and how to meet those goals
  • Streamlines w/o reminders
